Yes. Start with the first "hotter" and work backwards, replacing each "day before" and "day after" with "yesterday" or "today as appropriate. Then work forwards from the first "hotter" doing the same thing. Then do the same thing for the second "hotter".

Yes. Say today is Friday -the first part of the riddle makes yesterday, Thursday. The second part of the riddle makes today, Friday. It already states that the first part of the riddle was hotter than the second part, so the day before today has to have been hotter than today.
