You can as long as someone has worked out the code for it. Old 3 phones are not a problem but from the Nokia N70 onwards they just havent come up with a way yet - or so i have been told!

i'm unsure the place you're, yet here in Perth (Australia) there are multiple places that'll launch telephones from their unique networks, for around $30-$40. it may additionally be completed making use of an information cable, even however extensive examine on the thank you to is very cautioned. I even have had an unlocked 3 telephone for years, and that i've got not had a topic.

If you have an out of contract 3 phone the network will unlock it for you, but there is a risk that it'll only work with the sim that u unlock it to. For example, u put in the sim you want to use (e.g. your virgin sim) and pay to unlock it. It'll work with that sim, but as soon as you remove the sim the phone locks again. even if you put your (virgin) sim back in the phone will not work cos the sim was removed. This is something my sister found when she got her 3 phone unlocked (an LG 8210, if memory serves me well).

Also I've got an old 3 NEC 808Y phone which is out of contract. 3 could not unlock it for me and would replace it with an unlockable one. I'm stuck with a phone that I can't use as it's on 3 PAYG.

I took mine to a local market and got it unlocked for £10. Retail shops wouldn't touch it though they said it was illegal (although got the impression they thought it was locked as opposed to stuck with one network)

You can!!

Call '3' customer service and they WILL unlock it for £15.

They are contractually obliged to unlock handsets for an 'administration fee' so long as you OWN the phone and it's registered in YOUR name.

I've had a few handsets done by them.
