Fill out the government aid form at www.fafsa.com. Most schools will cover anything above what FAFSA says you can afford. However, few people who are self-funded for college get to go without having some sort of part-time job. Part of what fafsa will do is give you work-study, which is an on campus job.

You could check out online classes. This really is the only way to truly spend the same amount of time with the kids. :-)

One has to make compromises and choose. If you are a single mother, your options are, sad to say, limited. It's a sad fact of modern American life...husbands seem to be bailing at an unprecedented rate, leaving mothers to cope. It's not a fair situation, and one with no easy answers.
