Seriously: It's illegal (99% sure).

The baiters would, say "I was only giving him a hand with his house"

No. You can be alone in nature with the badger and keep it a secret. If you do not hurt the animal and just help it than it is fine. I would only ask myself why the badger needs help as they can usually do a good job themselves.

not illegal really, but dangerous, definitely.

nasty tempered things, and vicious. everything and everyone is a threat to them and must be eliminated. they have the skills to see it done properly, too.

of course, they have the skills to do their own digging, also. can't help but wonder why you would want to offer your assistance, legal or otherwise. lol

Unless "dig" is code for something else, I think it should be just fine

My kids dig holes in the ground all the time and they haven't gotten arrested yet. I'd say if you don't tell, he won't tell.
