Because they don't want to feel regret or guilt for being lousy, and, they're very selfish. Men are naturally more selfish than women. They really struggle with this.
If he doesn't want to be with his kids then by golly, don't give him that blessing then. Ask if he wants to sign away his parental rights or see them every week and pay his child support like he should.
Christian single lady's can do it if they find the best church to support them (emotionally and spiritually and sometimes economically too), and if they stick to their values, keep a positive attitude, and continually strive to better themselves and not expect themselve to be perfect.
Seek help from those whom you trust. You are not in this alone!

Feminizing of society makes men losers whether they're strong and in control or weak and under control. If he's strong, he has to overcome the criticism of every woman and a lot of men who think that being man equals abuser, dominant, hated authority figure.
If he's weak he has neither respect nor self esteem and is in very poor condition to be raising healthy kids.
Under all this scrutiny and condemnation, a man pushes as much of this off on the mother who doesn't have this condemnation for the very same acts as the father was exercising in the raising of the kids.
You see the needs of a Christian single lady, you go to church and ask to start a ministry to Christian single Moms for raising healthy kids. You set about encouraging men to take their part in the raising of kids every where you can, not just your kids' dad. Do a little research on the topics and have resources ready to give away.

They've seen their mothers assume all responsibility for the kids and the house, so expect their wives to do so too,
A christian single lady would live her life like any other lady, i suppose. Go to church on sunday perhaps?
