I was in Greece and was getting a tattoo done. The artist was almost finished withe the outline when the power went out in the whole city!!!! It got really quiet and I was immediately freakin because I was leaving the country in the morning. So if the power didn't come back on - I was goin home with PART of a tattoo! This didn't even phase the guy doing the tattoo. He turned to a fridge, reached in to grab a bottle, turned to me and said - Fanta? A fanta isn't nearly strong enough to calm my nerves, so I went next door to do a couple of shots. Luckily the power came back on and I got to finish my tattoo a few hours later.

hmmmm I have 3 right now and currently designing a fourth.

- I have a West coast Haida - Heron on back of my right shoulder, it represents strength(inner/outer), stamina, patience. Long story but that is the basic meaning. Have a pretty high pain tolerance- no problem
- have a design on my ankle from an music artist I used to work with, I like the look of it, she designed all her own album covers, hurt a bit
- have a burning maltese cross at the small of my back, not finished yet haven't figured out how I want to finish it. Because I am a firefighter and it represents who I am
- the fourth is a celtic design representing my husband and I and his irish background (in the works) this one will be going over my heart
- belly button because that was the only way my little sister was going to get one if big sister did. Belly ring was no big deal
and 3 holes in one ear and 2 in the other back in the days when I could wear earrings, can't now because of safety issues

I'm very indecisive about tattoos. I've been trying to draw or find something for 5 years and my ideas are even changing. So I recommend a lot of thinking before doing something that you will carry for the rest of your life. (There are removal operations too but I didn't really liked the looks of that.)

I have piercings, though. I love them and if you take good care of them, they'll love you back. I've my eyebrow, nose, bellybutton, and lip pierced. I'm no longer using the nose piercing but the others are still in use. None of them hurt and there were no local anesthesia. I never got any infections because I kept them really clean and rubbed them with antibacterials which I got from a drugstore.

I think they are wonderful accessories if you know what looks good on you. In my undeveloped country, people think you are a 'satanist' if you have tattoos or piercings. But we try very hard to express our individualities and stand up to those people's false accusations and shallow minds.

I have 3. This story is about my latest one: My husband's best friend is a tatoo artist and I was at his little girls birthday party-(which is the same day as mine). After the kids had gone home and to bed, we went out to the tatoo shop in their backyard and he gave me a ladybug on my foot as a birthday present. We were all really drunk and so it is all crazy looking!! I was videotaping the whole thing for my husband who was overseas in the military at the time! THE END.

I would be here all day if I went into each one.

living:
Lobes (2 @ 3/4", 2 in limbo around 10g-ish, hopefully down to nothingish eventually), Tongue (6g), Right nipple-horizontal(10g), Tattoo (inner right calf, dragonfly), Septum (8g), Helix (14g), Tragus (16g), Rook(16g), Tattoo (right shoulder, BME Kids Club bunny), Tattoo (right great toe, pink daisy), Sadhu (10g), Nostril (18g), Nipple-vertical(left 10g), Tattoo (back of neck, tombstone angel), 4g Sadhu~punched, Tattoo ("now", right foot), Tattoo (left foot, cooties), eyebrow (16g).

dead:
Gunned left lobe ~ fell out during sleep, Navel ~ too much of a pain in the ***, Sadhu ~ fell out in my sleep will be redone this xmas(revived dec 01), Scrumper ~ gum erosion rip 5-02, Left horizontal nipple ~ jewelry was rubbing with vertical causing pain and bleeding, Sadhu ~ had to be removed once I started wearing 10g jewelry in it (it was pierced at a horrible angle).

Why did I get them? Because I think they look beautiful on me. Because I love how they feel. Because I love how I feel when anticipating getting them.

I have had mostly good experiences. An idiot tattooist with my first tattoo and the guy who did my horizontal nipples had NO clue about what proper jewelry was. Other than that, I have been very lucky.
