No. Maternity leave is a fixed period and your holiday entitlement does not enter into it.

no it would not apply.
If you are on maternity leave, then you will earn holiday on a pro-rata basis during the time you are off work, until the point where you either 1. return to work or 2. maternity period expires.
You are entitled to 6 weeks maternity pay at 90% of salary, then a further 20 weeks statutory pay at £100/week.
During this 26 week (six month period) you are entitled to earn 1/2 of your annual holiday allowance. If the office closes over Xmas this does not affect the holiday you are entitled to. It is irrelevant.
If you extend your maternity leave from 6 to 12 months, then after this 6 month period, I believe you forefeit any accrual of holiday and the time off work is 100% unpaid.

As soon as you go on Maternity Leave, your holiday entitlement for that period it wiped out.
For example if you are allowed 24 days holiday in a 12 month period, and you are on Maternity Leave for 6 months, you are only allowed to take 12 days before/after your Maternity Leave. If you holiday period runs from 1st January to 31st December, and you are on Maternity Leave say May, June, July, August, September and October, the 12 days holiday you are allowed have got to taken in January, February, March, April, November and December.
In most places if the office is closed over Christmas this forms part of your holiday entitlement.

Maternity leave is paid by the government so if a buisness is closed over xmas, it is NOT part of your maternity.
Since the employer doesn't pay ML (Mat Leave) the person taking the leave is still entitled to it.
So essensially, the person gets the full holiday over christmas AND ML on top.

No, you are on maternity leave and not holiday...
the company I used to work for did this I was also on maternity leave and didn't use any holiday over this period. It is unlawful for them to make you take holiday while on maternity leave... check with the DTI website if you are in the UK.
You will still continue to accrue holiday at your normal rate.

No definately not, you are actually entitled to your normal annual leave as well as your maternity leave, although if you are on maternity leave at the end of the financial year and you still had annual leave outstanding you would lose the remainder of your annual leave.

If you're already on leave it shouldn't count. However the way things are going these days, they may try to make it count. You may want to check your companies policies.
