Maybe your microwave isn't working properly. Place an unbroken, uncooked egg in your microwave and turn the microwave on for five minutes. If the egg explodes after a few minutes, your microwave is okay. Maybe the moth was just looking for exploded eggs.
Try banging the side off the microwave while it is on. The moth will fly around until suddenly it hits a hot spot and gets fried.

The moth may have just been lucky. If I'm not mistaken, there are dead spots in a microwave where the magnotron (I love that word) doesn't cause water molecules to vibrate. (That's why they added the rotating tray at the bottom, to cause all parts of your food to pass through 'hot spots').
Maybe the moth was in a dead zone. That's my guess.
Or else, yes, you created Mothra and it should be flushed right away.

If it hung anywhere but the center of the tray inside it won't be hurt. All of the waves are focused toward the center.
Haven't you placed something in there and it was mostly toward the edges and it didn't heat up? That's the same thing.

depends where the moth was. if its in the corners it wont get "nuked"
it has to be in the center so its atoms or whatever can be sped up and heated.
