yes the police are called, there is an investigation, the body laid where it is until the police are finish, if the person hangs themselves they will not cut them down until the police have finished there investigation, all suicide notes are confiscate by the police they become a public record after the investigation the body is turned over to the next of kin with a death certificate that reads cause of death suicide the funeral is up to the family, usually they feel guilty because they were not able to stop the suicide.

I was a paramedic iun the military from 94-98,I worked 4 suicides,2 hangings,i shotgun toi the face,and someone drank a whole bottle of antifreeze..anyways first off the paramedicsand cops are caleeed a investigation is set in to see if foul play is involved,if foul play is involved i got to go home because the investigation can take days not likethey show on tv..if it is declared a suicide i got to pick up brain and skull fragments off the floor and put them in a red bag..because believe or not the body is burid with all possible parts with it...funeral services from what i know is at the amilies discretion...buried when evrything is done ,murder solved and or foul play isnt involved and suicide decicded to be cause of death..

i`m orthodox (and I believe that it`s the same, for Catholics, too...):
for someone died on suicide there are a funeral with no priest, and no church, just a simple burying
