This is what they call in logic a "complex question". There are two questions here. (1) Do most husbands love to dominate their wives? (2) If so, why?

There are more questions behind the questions. For instance, (1A) Do most husbands in most cultures love to dominate their wives?

In my culture, I have found, that wives tend to dominate their husbands, especially after they have children.

In fact, in Bengali, there is a word for the wife-dominated husband: "stroino". Thus linguistic evidence suggests that quite a few husbands are in fact dominated by their wives.

Finbally, in my culture, mothers tend to dominate their sons - the main relationship is not the husband-wife relationship, but the mother-son relationship. When the son marries, the mother and the daughter-in-law fight like Kilkenny cats over the husband/son.

Thus the main conflict in family life in my culture is that between mother-in-law (plus sisters-in-law) versus daughter-in-law.

The domination is, therefore, between woman and woman - not man and woman.

All marriages evolve slowly over time but a sudden and drastic change in only one partner can make the other partner unhappy and nervous about the future of the marriage. It's not unusual for someone to become religious or more deeply religious once they have children. I wish I had a good answer for you but he seems to be determined to control how you appear to others. Normally I would suggest some sort of compromise in what you wear for the sake of getting along but it sounds like he wants it his way and his way only. If you haven't already seen the movie "Not Without My Daughter" based on a true story about a similar situation where a Muslim husband goes through a religious revival at great cost to his family I suggest you do now. Good luck. /

They seem to think the old days are still in affect. Control is what they have to have to feel they are in superior. I would recommend any one who is in a domineering relationship to fix it immediately or leave. Today's society things are 50/50.

It's called neadrothal syndrome! This has been going on since the beginning of time. Women haven't learned not to be the door mats in their relationships whether it be marriage, or just a boy friend girlfriend situation.

Because they aren't strong enough to share a live on an equal relationship because they fear deep inside that they are not enough, so they try to possess their women to demonstrate this point. But deep down, they know they are xit. Men who are strong don't need to dominate any woman, just share their live with them.

It's not that they're trying to dominate, but rather to protect, provide for, support, be the hunk he thinks she wants. Do things to make her feel that she's cared for, protected, guided, loved. Women read into this way too much, and they tend to be too feminist.

First of all, it is biblically justified, read Genesis 3:16. Second, it makes them feel in control and that ego demands control. Thirdly, they can take a bit of taming too, you just gotta know how to do it right. Lastly, because we let them.
