this is a segue to my question about my YM getting disconnected every few minutes...i've tried re-installing YM but to no avail...

Perhaps your net connection is bad? How are you connected to the net? Dialup? Bad phone lines? Busy server, all can affect IM's. Good luck!

I was having this problem as well. What I had to do was on the Yahoo Messenger, click on "Messenger" on the top. Then click on "Preferences", click on the "Connection" tab and at the top click on the "No proxies". When I installed YM it had proxies set in it and had to disable it to not get the boot.

Where do you try to connect to ym ?
If it is at home may be due to some problem with your internet connection.
If you are using it at office perhaps your network administrator has blocked yahoo chat. contact IT people in your office. proxy settings need to be checked.

i have the same problem. but occurs only at late afternoon. i really dont know the reason, i think its our internet server cause theres too many user.
