I would be furious that such a person was living next to me and my family. I would hope that there is some kind of legal recourse in a case like this, no one should have to put their children in danger from a known offender. If I couldn't move I would probably get "on the bandwagon" and organize the rest of my neighbors to keep an eye out for any suspicious activities, and report them to the police -- each and every time.

I think I'd visit the paedophile and offer him a cup of tea and a biscuit. That's what this "love your neighbour" business is all about.
Can you imagine what it must be like to have committed an unpleasant offence, gone through all the misery of being interrogated and exposed in public and sent to prison, have the rest of your life screwed up by being put on the sex offenders' register, and then after your release, when you're supposed to be making a fresh start, find that the police (for God's sake) have gone round the neighbourhood siccing the mob onto you?

I don't think you could sue. make a complaint for sure. I would politely go over there with proof that you know about his charges. (print something from the web site) Tell him you are aware he is there, and you are asking him to stay away from your kids. MAKE NO THREATS OR HARRASS, you could get in trouble if you do, he could press charges.

I would be horrified. No you cant sue although you can anonymously send out fliers letting everyone else in the area know that way he will be the one that has to move.

so what, if he served his time, what if you lived next to someone who got drunk and run over someone and killed them?, would you still be horrified, what if you lived next to someone who raped a grown woman, would you still be horrified? if they served their time,( and that's debatable how long they should be in prison, for any of these offenses) , but if they served thier sentenced time, then its over unless they do something wrong, you don't know all your neighbors' past histories, and they don't know yours, and that's the way it should be.
