Can anyone offer some advice to a thoughfull Guy. My partner came off depo almost 2 years ago and we have tried to get pregnant but the side effects of Depo (very low libdo) don't exactly help matters. Have any of you women got any experience of this and any ideas (sensible ones only please) of how to help her get her "drive" back This is a serious question so only serious answers/advice please. We are both in our early 30's so age is not the factor
FYI I have done probably all the obvious stuff, understanding, kindness, tenderness foot massage, back massage, and obviously TIME.........I just need some help and maybe a ray of light to know that there maybe somthing I can do.

She might want to talk to the doctor. I came of Depo for the same reason. However, within a couple of months my libido returned. You said you are trying to get her pregnant, so i imagine she isnt on any sort of birth control, otherwise i would blame her new pill. Hmm...as a person who works in the medical profession, this sounds like a psychlogical problem or a physical one. I dont htink its the Depo really. Have her schedule an OBGyn appt and talk to them. They would know much more then i on what to do.

Firstly, let me say well done for taking the lead with this situation and not just sitting and brooding like some others would!
Depo Provera has proven side effects. 1 of those is that a percentage of women will have a reduced libido. Another is that fertility may not return as soon as the depo injections are stopped. Fertility can be diminished for up to 12 months following discontinuation of depo treament. It is unusual for depo to be the cause after this length of time.
One of the great (or not so great in your case) things about libido is that the more sex you have the more sex you want.
The flip side however, is that if your partner has had a decreased libido for time due to the depo, then this has become habit.
Merely discontinuing the depo might not be enough for her libido to return.
Another possibility is that she has a naturally low libido regardless of any contraceptives used.
It does sound as though you have done all of the right things as far as your relationship is concerned, so maybe it is time to seek out some further advice, on your own or as a couple if your partner is willing.
Something that did jump out at me though is this:
You say that you are trying for a baby. Perhaps have a little chat with her about her feelings regarding this. Is she a little fearful of this? Is she sure it is the right time to start a family? etc.
Just an idea, but possibly part of the problem.
I really hope this helps. Best wishes and good luck!

I have been on Depo for about 5 years now and I am always told that you can get pregnant as soon as you stop taking it. I don't know about the side effect of a lowered sex drive, tho. It could just be a time in her life where she just really doesn't feel like it. I really don't think that 2 years later the Depo has anything to do wtih it.

If you have tried all the nice stuff maybe you could try something more kinky or ...rough. Try just going up to her, make her stop what she's doing and take it from her, for a lack of a better way to put it. Obviously I don't mean rape her but she needs some excitement.

It may not be the Depo...2 years is a long time to have these side effects. Not to say that it COULDN'T be, because I have heard stranger things...I would begin to look into other possibilities...
