Feminism isn't really about being EQUAL to men... it's about embracing our differences and supporting our right to make choices as FREELY as men can. A women's studies section isn't about equality or women not being equal to men; it's about the fact that women do have a shared experience because of our gender. That said, I think there absolutely should be a men's section if there's a demand for it.

As for pink quotes... I've never seen that. Special discounts for women? Sign me up! But I've never seen that. In fact, women in the US get paid LESS than men for the same work... and we get no special discounts.

There are no 'mens' studies because we live in a patriarchal society and men have not had to fight for anything! Who cares about men anyway? Men have had 'men only' gentlemens clubs since time began and women have had no option but to like it and lump it. VERY few aspects of women's lives are private from men - EVERYTHING is scrutinised. So eventually we have goten to the stage where we, as women, can have a little privacy too in the form of say the women's section in the library. So bloody what? And some men can't deal with it! How ridiculous.

I'm not a feminist. But look at the heading of the section: "Women's studies". This section is not supposed to be to talk about our little problems with make up (there's a section for that), medical problems (there's also asection for that - as well as one for men), etc. It's to talk about WOMEN STUDIES!
Which is the study of history from the women's side.

Usually, when you learn historical facts, they convcern both men and women. But most of the time, women's living conditions are not taken into account. So that's why it started. And that's why there is such a section on Yahoo! answer. I don't think we can study that in France.

For women's health issues, yes I think it is important, We have a lot of things that are unique and some things can be embarrassing or hard to talk about. The rest of the things you mention have developed over time because really, it wasn't that long ago that we were shut out and didn't really matter to society. Our only job was to be seen and not heard. I think every woman should get out there and learn as much as she can and be self sufficient if she has to be.

It's called positive descrimination, I think.

We had a course at uni called Women Studies. And surprisingly only women took it up.

I think it'd be great for us guys to know what drives the women.

On a more serious note, the police have set up this whole black on black crime thing which I think is also going a little too far. Crime is crime. People are people.

Well, that's my whine for the morning :o)

Necessary, not too much, but it is quite pleasant to be a little priviliged, to be honest with you!
I like to be opened the door, to be talked to like I'm a lady, to have men pay for dinner or the movie ticket, to get free drinks in clubs. I don't see anything wrong with that!
Maybe it's a European thing, or maybe I'm old-fashioned, but you have to admit, it feels great!

I think it sexist myself.

But here is my friendly answer: Why is there no Men's study? Who studies women? Well, women study themselves deeper than men do. And women study men deeper than men do. So it's aptly named : )
LOL I'd like someone to argue that! ;)
