First off: stop touching them. Your hands are the filthiest part of your body and are loaded with germs. Only touch your piercings after you've washed your hands with antibacterial/antimicrobial liquid soap, and even then don't touch them unless if you have to, as fiddling with them is a good way to aggrivate them. Your piercings will have a crust around them (what essentially amounts to an itty-bitty scab, made up from sweat, dead skin cells, and the healing work done inside the piercing). Don't pick at them, but rather, wash them off with above mentioned soap. It will REALLY aggrivate your piercing when those are torn away from the skin (and is most likely to happen when you, guess what, touch your piercings). When you do touch your piercings, ensure that the crust has been washed off, and both the ear around the site and earring are wet, so it provides a smooth, non-irritating surface for the earring to spin around in.

Second : the swelling is normal (your body is sending large amounts of white blood cells to fight off infection, and red blood cells to begin the repair work to your skin), and should subside in a day or two from now, a week at very most. Just take an anti-inflammitory medicine, like ibuprofin or Advil, keep ice on it, and gently compress it with a clean washcloth soaked with a solution of a quarter teaspoon of kosher or sea salt dissolved in a glass of water (as this will reduce swelling, and reduce the chances of infection).

If you pierced them with a piercing gun, then the impact of hitting your ear is probably the pain...No one really recommends this method, but sooo many boutiques still do it. If it only hurts when u touch them...obvious...Don't touch them. 2 things...if they are studs make sure the backs are not too tight, if they are they can be sucked into your ear, if they are being sucked in change to a hoop immediately!!! Hoops in general are best to be pierced with...again -Gun / Stud not recommended...Also, do not excessively clean them, overly touching them causes bacterial and all sorts of crap that you have touched all day to transfer to the open wound... Clean 2x a day...Morning/Night...and NEVER turn or twist them if they are dry, or scabbed over. Only turn them if they are wet with the cleaner, or you are in the shower.

If you are overly concerned go back to the piercer and show them, or ask them. Or go to the doctor...
