If you like something a little more exotic than just roses, there are orchids, lilies, stephanotis, calla lilies, bird of paradise, ranunculus, gerbera daisies, and many others. It all depends on your taste.

That's like asking what kind of food people normally eat! In other words, it depends on your personal preference, as well as what's available to you. There's no right answer. You can mix different flowers together or make a bouquet of all one kind. You can do a particular color, or color scheme, or just go for all the colors of the rainbow. Doesn't have to be just flowers, either - you can add ferns, ivy, or lots of other greenery. Have some fun and be creative.
