I've been on the injection 4 7months (started 4wks after having my 2nd baby) but lately i've realise my breasts r huge, they seem 2 have grown overnight. can the injection cause this? or could the injection have failed and could i be pregnant? also will a pregnancy test give an accurate result or will it be positive because of the injection?

Depo Provera can produce several side effects in women, and all women will vary in how they react to the drug.
It is very likely that your physiology is affected in such a way that your breasts become larger (and if so....congratulations!), but even depo is not 100% effective at preventing pregnancy.
Speak to your G.P. about this side effect should it become troublesome for you or make your breasts sore. There are lots of other great contraceptives out there. You mentioned that you have already had 2 babies, so perhaps the Mirena coil could be a great option for you. Unlike the old coil, it has health benefits, such as protection against some uteriine cancers and very often it gives you much lighter periods. It's also the most effective contraceptive on the market.
If you decide to check if you are pregnant, depo provera will not give you a false positive result.
Pregnancy tests check for a hormone called Beta Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (bHCG). This is only present during pregnancy and your depo injections cannot affect this.

Contraceptives can have side effects, one of them is swelling of the breasts and weight gain. It is good to check out your options with a good doctor. Also pills and injections do not always stop ovulation or conception but cause the body to abort the new life by weaking the walls of the uterus. Not everyone feels comforable with this option. The diaphram might be a good option for you. I'm sure you know of cases and so do I of girls getting pregnant on the pill or after getting injections. The doctor can test you for pregnancy either way. Don't worry

if you have been on it for 7 months, it could possibly be just side effect. Its doubtful that you are pregnant if you have been getting the depo shots ever 3 months. But as they say its only 99% effective. theres still that 1% chance. I was on it and the big side effect for me is it killed my libido. I had no drive at all. Take a home pregnancy test, if it comes up negative then its negative. If it comes up positive, goto your obgyn and have them test you. Home pregnancy tests might give you a false positive with the hormones. It just depends on the test and your body. The Obgyn could tell you yes or no.

it should be accrate if you test test 4 wks after you last had sex plus puting on weight can make you boobs bigger
