Hezbollah (Arabic: حزب الله[1], meaning Party of God) is a Lebanese Islamist Shiite organization and political party[2], with a military arm and a civilian arm [3]. It was founded in 1982 with the declared aim to fight the Israeli occupation of Southern Lebanon[4] that lasted until 2000[5]. Hezbollah is currently led by its Secretary General, Hassan Nasrallah.
