What is the progression towards attaing a PhD in say science ? Bachelor --> Masters --> ? What does a PhD student do? A side question: How does one become a professor ?
I don't know this stuff because I have never known anyone who has all these qualifications. I have no idea how the education system works. Plan to head towards there though.

Ph.D. is the short form of Doctor of Philosophy. You will get it by doing a research work either by validating something previously done or by propounding something new. You can register for Ph.D. after completing your post graduate course. This will be awarded by a university. An experienced researcher and academician will become a professor.

PhD means Doctor of Philosophy.. take up a Doctorate course major in Philosophy. It is higher than a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree and it gives the holder a higher potential of being hired because it is believed that those who earn their PhD have higher qualifications than those who don't.

Schools and universities have their own qualifications for their teachers and professors. Most of these universities require their professors to have a degree in education and a master's degree.

Once you're in the corporate world, you'll meet people who have all those. In the meantime do your best to finish school and afterwards you can pursue higher studies - master's degree and doctoral degree.

Doctor of Philosophy. A PhD student has to do an independent research that leads to a dissertation , during that he/she should pass a qualification exam that tells how qualified and well prepared to be an independent scientist. A professor is an academic position, ones can get it by hard working and getting funds and more ideas..... Doctorate degree needs a lot of work .. Good Luck

you go to regular undergraduate college (usually fo r four years) to get a bachelor's degree. Then you ggo r ograduate school in something more specific within your bachleot's degree to get a PhD in, which also usually takes four years. After you get a PhD, I think you're supposed to do research on the field for a while and build up your credentials before you apply for a teaching position at a college or university to become a professor.
