Only time will tell. No conflict or war lasts forever. The current crisis in Middle East is a great laboratory of humanity. When it's all settled we all will be a little bit wiser.
Even though we are capable of solving many conflicts that were unsolvable in the past, the things going on out there now are new to us. There are many factors that didn't exist in the past. Factors like massive media coverage and the Internet.
My opinion is that in the meantime we all can focus on our own conflicts with our next door neighbors. Find a solution to your own problems and discover your own dark side. Maybe then you will find humbleness and empathy.

Man is programmed by Nature to eat or be eaten. What is happening in the Mid East is no different than what happens everywhere else in the world. An individual's survival is keyed to a society's survival. When a way of life (individual's or society's)that makes survival enjoyable is threatened, well, we go to war to lessen the externally induced stress. Sometimes a population's density increases and cannot be supported. Then social survival may require extinction of less important members (the structure of armies is a good example: foot soldiers become expendable). This could be objectionable to "reactionaries" and internal unrest results. Thirdly, some societies just want more than what they have (greed) and begin to take from others..or to lessen threats, they go out to convert differing (threatening) mindsets. The agression may be based on survival, but more often than not, it is based on culture (religion in disguise). The options (what you call solutions) to the Middle East conflict: move away from it (search for another New World); eliminate it (Bibical floods and A-bombs work nicely but there are nasty consequences); or instill acceptance by ensuring survival of cultures (not likely when guns speak louder than words). Remember, similar stress occurs at mico and macro levles in the Universe. Cells compete and live in harmony, galaxies, black holes and simple planetary bodes swell by consuming lessers via gravitational forces...eat or be eaten. That is the Nature of this reality. So, in fact, there is no real eternal solution. Sorry.

The answer is simple. It is, you mind your own business and I will mind mine. You don't attack me and I will not attack you. You don't kill my people and I will not kill yours. Lets talk and settle the matter once and for all and there will be peace for as long as there's no intrusion in each others business. As for the peace treaty among all the feuding countries, there should be a give and take attitude by all participants and the treaty should be supported and endorsed by the United Nations.

The solution is get all missiles, rockets, atomic and nuclear weapons OUT of the hands of terrorists. This of course means war, which everyone LOVES to ***** about...unfortunately, there is no other way. We tried asking them nicely. Doesn't work.

Very seriously: just when either side will give up on part of what they are clinging to now. Until either the Israelis or the Arabs (or possibly both) will start giving up on certain issues, it will always be tit for tat. Sadly...
