Musing...let us attempt to correlate or compare a string and its 6 or 7 or how many dimensions or levels to say a single star with it's own levels and dimensions, fields of influence. Since the universe is infinite in expanse and strings are (almost) infinitely small can a somewhat valid comparison be made here? I hope I am making this leap vaguely comprehensible....

There was an interesting show on PBS about this. Try there.

For a sense of scale try the second Link.

Given that objects are made up of quantum particles, (or strings) it's not a question of comparison but of consistency: for the quantum model to be true (rather than just useful in predicting the behaviour of quantum particles, which no one can see anyway so why care?) it must account for the behaviour and properties of day to day objects as well. Not an expert on this, but I hear that in quantum theory quantum particles don't have determinate position - but objects such as cars and pencils definitely do have spacial positions, so the 2 are inconsistent. String theory may be a useful model for the infinitely small but is inconsistent with the "normal size" world - which makes me sceptical about its usefulness for the very large...

Well - Acording to this teory - there is 11 dimensions as far as i remember ...

Anyway i think that there is unlimited count of dimensions acording to "Possibilities Quantum physics theory".

Anyway - i accept some parts of this theory.
but i think that there is some more after all.
