I used to care less about getting points until I reached my limits in answering. Since then, I become conscious of earning points to get to higher level. So being chosen as the best answer is an easy 10 points. Now I try to give out more sensible answers so that I get the 10 points, although sometimes I still give an answer that's purely subjective, or just plain opinion. Like this:)

Good question. Getting a best answer does give me a little surge of joy, but I also like voicing my opinons regardless of the fact that no one really cares what I think. I really just like putting my two cents in the jar and hoping that someone else finds my answers either:
a) helpful
b) enlightening
c) educational
d) funny
or
e) all of the above.
I also like to rip into people for being either:
a) complete and total morons
b) complete and total @$$holes
c) completely and totally self-righteous and hipocritical
or
d) all of the above.
So... are you gonna give me a little surge of joy??? ;)

I think the serious questions care about getting a good answer. But I have noticed this site has become a forum lately. Especially in the wee hours of the morning.
Is that a good answer or should I just say something like,
"Why do people have to ask dumb questions. I think they should just feast on sandwiches and shut up."
May I please have 10 points? My Mama needs a new pair of shoes!

i'm mainly interested in trying to spread the little wisdom and sagacity that i have picked up in my twenty years of existence...it's not a long time, but i like to imagine i've learned quite a bit. so, yeah. i care about voicing my opinion. if people want to take that as the "best answer," fine by me. but it's not really what i strive for here.

I dont answer questions with the sole aim of getting the 10 points. I answer questions that take up my fancy. But when U r voted the Best answer, it does give you a momentary high.

Well, it's certainly nice to see another best answer being added to the list, but this is only secondary. The main thing is to have fun in trying to give clever (I hope so!) answers to the questions.

Cracks me up! I was interested in a serious answer to a serious question but when I started reading questions and answers I was so entertained that I don't really care about my serious question anymore. Thanks!! I love a place for opinions because out in the "real" world I feel like your not "politically correct" anymore if you have an opinion. I like them myself. Makes it interesting. Thanks for cheering me up after a horrid nightmare.

It's really nice to wake up and open my mail and see I've given a "best answer" . . that means I've done something well, helped someone see another perspective, given him hope, or even a new recipe . . it feels so nice to help other people . . .
