Anything is possible...
There have been several species of human-like primates on this planet, hobbet-like ones, giant one like bigfoot, etc. So it is possible some developed gills and moved to seas. The seas cover most of the planet and is vastly unexplored.

The logical side of me says that lonely men out at sea will see what they want most; kind of like a mirage of water in the desert, they see a woman in the water. But then the side of me that still believes in dragons and other stuff says that the oceans are so deep, how we ever know for sure? I honestly believe that mermeaids are real. How else can you explain all the different myths from different civilizations describing them? Myths have their basis on reality.

I believe it's possible. a sailor of 20 years isn't going to mistake a manatee for a pretty girl, now is he? There have been reports of sailors *seeing* Mermaids up close, looking at them. I say they aren't physical beings, like water fay. Some say the reason you don't see them anymore is because they are afraid of iron, a metal hated by Fay. Back in the day, boats were made mostly of wood. Look up this book on Amazon, it gives a refreshing thought on the possiblities of different beings existance.

I think it is foolish to think that we are the only race living on Earth. There are more things in this world that us as mere human beings know of. I think it is highly possible that there is another race of people who might wish to be left alone in peace and knowing how people in the human race can treat one another, I could see the reasons why.

i think merfolk exist..defiently at some point in history,because i think some people have a connection or special fasination with them,me included...or mabye just people who are like merfolk.people who cant resist water,or love to sing and are good at it.me included with those people.who knows?there may be people with merblood who can control water.

There is definitely mermaids. They exist in other realities than our current one. Though we are led to believe that they don't exist, so we don't see them. People who are at see for long periods see them cos' they aren't told what to see and what not to see. Maybe they slipped into another reality or a temporally portal?
