Why are people so upset that some people happen to care about about Arabs as well as Jews? Isn't that the noble, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, pagan, moral, just plain decent thing to do? Children are being killed here. Why fan the flames of war and hate? If you know, please tell me why?

Have you noticed the amount of anti-Semitism that was flying across these pages last week? Israel is in a no-win situation, do nothing and attacks will continue, act and the world condemns it.

There will always be fascist jerks (like the BNP in England), but what really scares me is how quickly large elements of the left will jump to an anti-Israeli position, often without much understanding of the entire situation. When anti-war folk in this region have a presentation and discussion, the Jewish representative is a member of a group who believes that Israel should not exist until G-D recreates the country himself. Not a political position, a theological one held by a minority, and because he's there, they all get to feel happily angry and well-informed. That's about as fair and balanced as Faux News.

The Palestinians in particular are the new darlings of many anti-war activists. Do you realise that there were two Arab/Muslim states created out of the territory of the Palestinian Mandate? Something like 7/8's became Jordan. Of the rest, half was to be a Jewish state, the other half Muslim. The Jews accepted it, the governments of the neighboring Arab and/or Muslim nations did not. The day after the state of Israel was declared, seven of them invaded Israel. Israel managed to win that war, incorporating what was to have been the new 'Palestinian' state. The Mandate area Arabs had been encouraged to leave their homes -- by Arab leaders -- under the assumption that they would be able to return after victory. Didn't work that way, and the neighboring governments insisted on keeping most of them as refugees to 'preserve their identity.' In other words, there was a general population transfer, with Jews being expelled from much of the MidEast, but the new 'Palestinian' Arabs were kept in camps. They are pawns to be used in anyway possible to weaken Israel's position in the region and in the eyes of the world.

In one of your answers (I went looking to try to better understand where your question in coming from), I found this:
"Does Hezbollah arm Israel and enable its eventually suicidal policy of humiliating Palestinians and angering all its neighbors?"

I submit that it is not Israel angering its neighbors, but its neighbors refusing to accept Israel's right to exist. Israel can't possibly keep its nose clean enough because there are too many people in that region who insist that it be destroyed.

I certainly do care about the Lebanese and the Palestinians, but I will not stop reminding people about the fuller history of the region.

Well . . I am a Jew, and very very concerned about the welfare of Lebanon as well as Israel. They are good neighbors, we've lived with them in relative peace and quiet for years . . but hezbollah . . well, unfortunately, that's a different story. This fanatic, extremeist group is arming themselves to fight against Israel, and preceeded the incident by throwing a good 500 missiles before the Israelis reacted . . so what is their purpose . . what is it that they want to achieve . . . simple, they are bent on the total descruction of Israel, ask them plainly, they'll tell you (yes, they want their prisoners back . . why . . so they can have more fighters against Israel) . . so at this point, we are talking about survival of the only home the Jews have, this little tiny state . . what should Israel do . . if you can come up with a solution to peacefully disarm hezbollah, and go back to living in peace, I'm sure the entire middle east will be impressed and eternally grateful . . .

We live in a world that gives us instant access to all the horror's mankind and nature can come up with. Unfortunately we , the human race, haven't yet reprogrammed our synapses to deal with this in a rational way.

We feel threatened and intimidated when we cannot put things that we witness via the Internet, newspapers , TV etc right.

So how do we react? With further aggression!

It is unfortunately a very human condition, but has perhaps ensured the human race's survival.

As Islam's basic principle points out that the "Qafir" (the non believer) has to be hacked to death through "Jihad' (holy war)! While Jihad is on at Lebanon, why the Muslims expect qafir's have to sympethise on them? When it happens to "qafir" , muslims feel very much comfortable and say cheers!!!
