Well, it's kind of a trick question. Fastest ever, modified or production, streetable or racer?

Fastest also means highest top speed not 1/4 mile times, that would be quickest. Since the manufacturers agreed to a top speed limit of 186 MPH, for the time being none will go faster than another.

The fastest MASS production bike would be the 1999 Suzuki Hayabusa BEFORE the motorcycle manufacturers agreed to 186 mph top speed limit, to appease the European lawmakers. It went 192-197 mph depending on who tested it.

The Y2K bike is available, but at $150,000 isn't going to be made in more than a handfull of numbers. (5 per year accordin to their website) Powered by a helicopter turbine engine, putting out 325 HP and 425 ft/lbs, it's listed in the latest guiness book of records for going about 227 mph.

The Chrysler tomahawk hasn't ever been demonstrated to go over highway speed. Wasn't sold to anyone as a runner, and with 4 wheels, is it a car?

Check southern california speed association website for the records for motorcycles, but as been listed above some are well above 300mph. Of course these were streamliners and not capable of driving on public roads.

The "appropriate" is difficult to assert. this relies upon on what you're making use of the motorcycle for. My CBR1100XX is almost appropriate for me. There also are some techniques to outline All mass production motorcycles now are restricted to 186mph, and not one of the liter motorcycles will do it reason they're geared shorter. So fastest proper % is a wash now between some motorcycles, which includes the Kawaski ZX-14R and the Suzuki GSX1300R. The older ZX-12R and GSX1300R aren't any further restricted, and may exceed 185 with suggestions from somewhat. round a circut even if, the liter motorcycles ought to slay the afore pronounced topspeed kings. those are all easily a wash, and that i study evaluation the position the slowest lapped interior of a second of the fastest. so a techniques as sprints, the liter motorcycles are all in the better 9s by the a million/4mi, and the ZX-14 and the Busa are merely previous to them, virtually tied with eachother. also, 0-60, i dont imagine something has ever matched the V-Max, which debuted in the 80s (80 4?)and develop into made by 2007. and then you get into the no longer rather mass production motorcycles, like the Y2K jetbike, the Desmocidici, the MV 312 and so on. all the present crop of sportbikes are so heavily matched, and characteristic such intense overall performance, that it somewhat comes all the way down to the rider.

Stock, the fastest production bike ever is the 2000 Kaw zx 12r. A Hayabusa can't even beat a GSXR 1000. The zx 12r will go 209. The Busa is definitely a good third place bike. The 12 is geared differently than the 14. The 14 is a fast bike dont get me wrong . But Im sick of people saying the Busa is the fastest. Wake up, every Kaw-boy aint like the bareback mountain cowboys.

Kawi Ninja ZX14 - the show "Super Bikes" had a heads up drag race between a ZX14 and a 'Busa, and the ZX won. It also has 15 more claimed horsepower, and about the same weight.
Either is pure death on wheels.
What gets me is that Little Neobiker Tom, with his shiny new MC permit and $9,499 in his fatigues, can hump it down to the dealer and hop on a Ninja or a 'Busa or Fireblade and ride it off the lot! Every spring, the papers are full of kids riding themselves to death.
I personally believe that Motorcycle Permits should be graduated, and you should have to ride for a while before climbing on one of these barely de-tuned race machines.
But then, I'm against helmet laws, so I guess I am guilty of doublethink, here.
Interesting idea, though, especially in states where helmets are mandatory.
Cheers.

The Dodge Tomahawk can reach 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds, and has a theoretical top speed of nearly 400 mph. Each pair of wheels is separated by a few inches and each wheel has an independent suspension. Bernhard said four wheels were necessary to handle the power from the engine.

The Tomahawk remains on display at auto shows - though well out of reach of the general public, elevated on a special display.
