If there is proof beyond a shadow of doubt, that someone has murdered someone or raped a child why do we not execute them immediately? Isn’t letting them liger in our prison systems for years and forcing tax payers to support these individuals a tragic waste of our money?

I will not be a hypocrite, If someone kills or does something bad against a member of my family, I want that sucker hung and hung immediately after being found guilty, therefore I will not say I am against capital punishment until someone of my family get harmed or something done bad to them.

I do agree , there are too many appeals in a death penalty case. We should eliminate a lot of those, thus faster executions.

We are paying taxes to keep these people behind bars, in some cases it has proved to be worth while, especially since DNA has been introduced into our criminal justice system. DNA has proved a few of those on death row to be innocent, even though they were found guilty by a jury and sentence to death by a judge.

In a lot of countries, even though a lot of countries might not have the death penalty they cut out your tongue if you are caught lying and your hand if you are caught stealing, guess what they do if you are caught having sex with someone Else's wife. The wife is stoned to death and he man that is caught his penis is cut off.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

(I'm against death penalty too, but that's not the question!)

Yes, I agree. It's completely a waste of everything to delay the execution with long years. Perhaps it's ok from a human aspect to let the sentenced have a few months to prepare, but some are held in prison for decades. That is ridiculous.

Probably there is a legal process behind it. (I'm just guessing.) I think the convicted uses every legal means to postpone the execution, that's why it may take so long.

The bible says " An eye for an eye" And this is what the death penalty means. I believe that you are right. This is a huge waste of tax dollars being thrown away on years of waiting.. There is progress in Texas however.. if you have committed a henious offence, and there are more than 3 eye witnesses and there is NO doubt you committed the crime, you are moved ahead and executed in a timely fashion.

I think it could be a little quicker. But now that we have the relatively new scientific methods of testing dna, lots of innocent people have been found innocent, and avoided the death penalty. In future generations, as our science and court procedures improve, (hopefully) then I think the execution should be done within a couple of years. I think its important to give the killer/rapist/child molester a little time to suffer before he is executed, but 20 years is way too long, especially in today's cases, where dna proves they did it. I never believed in the death penalty, until I had children of my own, and if someone raped or hurt or killed one of them, I'd kill that person if the courts didn't.

The death penalty is completely unjustifiable under every circumstance. If murder is illegal for an individual, then how can the state honestly endow itself with the power to take life against the will of the victim? It's utter hypocrisy and should be abolished anywhere in the world where it still exists.

good question. I supported capital punishment for an prolonged time, however the extra I discovered approximately it, the extra I got here to oppose it. interior the top, a number of aspects replaced my concepts: - blunders take place. on account that 1973 interior the U.S., 138 human beings have been released from dying row with evidence of their innocence. those are all people who were discovered in charge "previous a clever doubt." A existence sentence is reversible. An execution isn't. - fee - by using criminal equipment designed to cut back wrongful executions (and the massive price of holding dying row centers), it expenses taxpayers lots extra to execute somebody than to imprison them for existence. - this is no longer a deterrent - violent crime expenses are consistently larger in dying penalty jurisdictions. - that's erratically and arbitrarily utilized. - because of the fact the U.S. isn't any doubt one in all the final final international locations with capital punishment, many different international locations refuse to extradite prevalent criminals who could be status trial here. - It fosters a custom of violence via holding that killing is an appropriate answer to a topic. - Jesus exchange into against it (see Matthew 5:7 & 5:38-39, James 4:12, Romans 12:17-21, John 8:7, and James a million:20). - existence devoid of parole (LWOP) is on the books in maximum states now (all different than Alaska), and it ability what it says. people who get this sentence are taken off the streets. For good. - As Voltaire as quickly as wrote, "enable the punishments of criminals be useful. A hanged guy is sweet for no longer something; a guy condemned to public works nonetheless serves the country, and is a residing lesson." - no count in case you’re a hardened criminal or a central authority representing the human beings, killing an unarmed individual is misguided. era. “He did it first” isn't a valid excuse.

No, if there is proof beyond a shadow of a doubt then the public should be able to kick the crap out of them for about a year and then they will look forward to being executed......but then...SURPRISE! ..We beat on them for another year.
This way we get our tax dollars worth out of the penal system.

The death penalty should just be abolished. Killing is wrong under any circumstances, no matter what the person did.
