Or, do you put alot of thought into answering, so that you will receive the 10 points for best answer?

I don't try to go for quantity like I did when I first joined Yahoo! Answers. And, since I'm already at level 3, I don't feel it's so important to get those 10 points anymore, it's more important to give good, reliable information.

Since joining I also realize how many dopey individuals have too much time on their hands and ask really dumb, inane questions. These are the ones I try to avoid or, sometimes just give a silly answer right back at them.
Then there is that other perecentage of askers who are really sincere and honest about seeking help or advice by asking something they would be too embarrassed to ask their parents or friends. These are the ones that grab my attention and that I try to give an honest reply to.
So, I'm hoping that I am really being helpful to those that need it and if I don't know the answer I try to find good sources and post links so the questioner can try and find what they are looking for.
Especially the young teens and school age kids have so many questions about sex, health and relationships...problems with their parents, etc. This is a good place for them to explore and easily get information that they might normally be too embarrassed to ask about.

Another interesting aspect of Yahoo! Answers is how much I am able to learn myself. I'm no genius and it's interesting when someone asks a question that I myself don't know the answer to...I end up getting the answer (thank you Google) for the person who asked it but, at the same time, I've learned something new myself. So it's a win-win situation.

I try to give something valuable. If it's not the best answer it should be at least a good answer.

nope. I mean sometimes it's just fun answering a person's questions knowing that they really need other people's opinions or knowledge regarding a certain topic.
