Since being gay isn't as big a deal as it used to be, then why doesn't the Disney Channel have any gay characters? Same with Nickelodeon.

It's a matter of money. If they put "gay" shows on children's networks, parents who dont' agree with homosexuality will block channels and networks lose money. Keeping it "gay" free opens the way for all viewers.

Well on The N which is a spin off Nickelodeon channel on the show Degrassi there was gay characters. As for Nick & Disney maybe one day there will be gay characters but that wont happen until people realize that being gay isn't a choice but is there way of life.

Simple, Politics and Money. Having a gay character would alienate many in the conservative camp. On the other hand, it is doubtful that many gay people would boycott disney for not featuring a gay character.

I can just image Pat Robertson telling people on National TV to boycott a Disney movie because of a gay character.

On the show shake it up two guys go on a date together, and in one episode they have glue on their hands, and they go around holding hands for a few seconds. So, I do think it is something they are very slowly trying to introduce to the public. I would say yes about the characters in real life, but because of the danger to the show, I do not think they would even think about being open.

I'm sure they think having a gay character on channels aimed more for children would corrupt them. We have came a long way but we have a long way to go to end the ignorance!

It doesn't have gay characters because its targeted audience is children. Some children don't understand homosexuals, and their parents might think they are too young to know what they are. However, I personally think Spongebob is kinda gay.

Hi. No offense, but, I am so sick of people wanting their personal group agenda forced on kids. Gay=Homo SEX ual. I think that answers your question. SEX and SEXUALITY do not belong in children's TV,
