That's awesome. It really helps the community out and is of benefit to all. I am hoping someday the conservative majority where I live stops slamming living wage proposals down before they can make it through their first vote, as I know we really need it here. A lot of people are trying to live on $6.50 an hour, and it just cannot be done in my community.

Not yet my friend, it still needs to be signed by the Mayor. But the house has enough votes to pass it even if it gets vetoed by the mayor.
For people who don't know what a living wage is, it is minimum wage required to live in a city. In this case Chicago.
Living wage varies from city to city since the cost of living varies from city to city.

problem with upping the minimum wage, is that as a consequence everything also becomes more expensive, and that living wage is once again no more a living wage, that's a big reason why many economists do not like minimum wage, and it just helps to increase inflation.

Um, yeah...for Chicagoans ONLY ..not the rest of Cook County or even the state!!
But CHicago also has the HIGHEST sales taxes of all major cities!! So it equals out.
