Well,.... uhmmmm,....
not like in the movies,... though thats just the special effect at work.

But I have seen Chinese Acrobatics, professionals. Sometimes, it would appear that some of the things that they do, certainly defies logic and gravity.

If you've studied The Art, you would understand that they are using their Chi.

But on the other hand, it is possible to float for what seems to be longer than normal. It's not easy to learn to control your inertia like they do.

But flying, thats only for birds planes and your immagination.

Of course not!!! Or else they wouldn't be shooting pictures but winning all the Olympic Gold Medals!!!

Those fight scenes are aided by wires pulled by dozens of crew on the set.

This kind of kungfu is called the martial art of "lightness" (輕功)and it had been depicted as high and long jumps (though very very very high and very very very long) until Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" came along which saw characters actually "fly" instead of just "jump". Ang Lee's depiction of the martial art of lightness totally revolutionized the way this kind of martial art is portrayed in Chinese Kungfu movies.

As far as I know, movies like Charlies' Angels and the Matrix triology which used Chinese action instructors also employed such wired-and-fly techniques.

No. If you look at the commentary on the DVD for "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" you will see that the combatants are on wires for the scenes in which they apparently fly or jump high. It looks great, but it can't be done without a little extra help.

Sure. Just like the Flying Monkeys in The Wizard of Oz, which, as I am sure you know, is a true story.

No, because of gravity, which wins over martial arts techniques every time.
