Setting aside the fact that every time the minimum wage is raised it kills jobs, why stop at $10? Why not $11? Surely those hard-working Americans deserve more. Why not make it $15 an hour? Then everybody would have a great job! The answer, of course, is that if you raise the minimum wage too high, then the company won't be able to hire enough workers to be competitive and do the job. If the law says everybody has to make $10 an hour, then the prices are going to go up. Fewer people will shop there. And so on down the line.

I think if I want to work for someone for 2 dollars per hour I should have that right! All the minimum wage does is guarantee the government more dollars from your taxes and it screws over your employer in a number of ways! When you raise the minimum wage then small business owners get rid of employees and every business raises their prices to offset the new burdens placed on them by the government! THERE SHOULD BE NO MINIMUM WAGE!! If you are a good employee then you will be compensated accordingly!! MINIMUM WAGE IS JUST ANOTHER STEP CLOSER TO COMMUNISM!!

A better question is what kind of idiot would work for minimum wage? There's no excuse to only be making minimum wage in America. If you are at the minimum wage level then you lack the desire to elevate yourself to higher levels, In which case you should get whatever your worth (which is probably less than minimum wage). Anyone in America can work and learn themselves out of poverty. You can go to night school and earn an Associates Degree, then go to a Uni and get A Bachelors and make a decent life for You and your family.

A lot of companies have moved their production to countries where the wages are less than in USA.
Maybe Republicans want to get rid of the minimum wage in order to get back some of these jobs that were lost in USA.

I agree that minimum wage helps a lot of people. And we need a certain amount of minimum wage.
But as minimum wage rises, so will the prices of products that minimum wage workers make. Such as burgers from fast food resturants, and food that are picked by people who make minimum wage.

Is minimum wage really that necessary? If the job don't pay enough don't work it. Only work a job that pays you what you are willing to work. If noone works a $4 an hour job, then that business is going to have to raise its pay or shut down. It isn't that necessary.

At the moment I agree b/c our minimum wage is so low but if it was to raise to say $10 it would really hurt our economy due to simple economics..supply and demand. The demand for labor would go wayyy down and the unemployment rate would skyrocket. With less workers there's less overall products made..therefore less income for businesses...therefore economy suffers and so does government b/c less taxes paid.

Yeah, because minimum wage is really a realistic assessment of what you need to live on.
