(1) I use to think that in hot countries when people hung their duvet (comforter) out of the upstairs window it was to "air" it. Perhaps it is really for the fleas and other bugs to drop out in the ultra-violet light of the sun.
(2) Can we use a UV lamp to kill/deter fleas instead of using all those chemical sprays?

they already make a flea catcher/killer using uv and black light....i worked on a guys home and he had a tray, like a paint roller pan, and 8-10 inches above it on the back was a 6 inch black light hanging over the pan......pan had some kinda liquid in it about 1 inch deep....

when i looked in the pan there were many fleas....he said he bought it at sears and it worked well!

I guess I'm lucky not to have this problem! My mom always hung out the covers just to air them out. But the link below shows a great flea trap that might be the ticket for your "non-chemical" solution. Hope it helps!

The heat would have be about 120. The bugs get in the walls and under things. No, it will not work.
