1) Latitude- Latitude, usually denoted symbolically by the Greek letter φ, gives the location of a place on Earth north or south of the Equator. Latitude is an angular measurement ranging from 0° at the Equator to 90° at the poles (90° N or 90° S).

2) Longitude- Longitude, sometimes denoted by the Greek letter λ, describes the location of a place on Earth east or west of a north-south line called the Prime Meridian. Longitude is given as an angular measurement ranging from 0° at the Prime Meridian to +180° eastward and −180° westward. Unlike latitude, which has the equator as a natural starting position, there is no natural starting position for longitude. Therefore, a reference meridian had to be chosen. While British cartographers had long used the Greenwich meridian in London, other references were used elsewhere, including: El Hierro, Rome, Copenhagen, Jerusalem, Saint Petersburg, Pisa, Paris, Philadelphia and Washington. In 1884, the International Meridian Conference adopted the Greenwich meridian as the universal prime meridian or zero point of longitude.

3) Prime Meridian- The Prime Meridian, also known as the International Meridian or Greenwich Meridian, is the meridian (line of longitude) passing through the Royal Greenwich Observatory, Greenwich, England — it is the meridian at which longitude is defined to be 0 degrees. The prime meridian, and the opposite 180th meridian (at 180° longitude), which the International Date Line generally follows, separates the eastern and western hemispheres.

4) International Date Line- The International Date Line, also known as just the Date Line, is an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth opposite the Prime Meridian which offsets the date as one travels east or west across it. Roughly along 180° longitude, with diversions to pass around some territories and island groups, it corresponds to the time zone boundary separating +12 and -12 hours GMT (UT1).

5) Grids- Map grid system uses specifically selected constant longitude lines and constant latitude lines to form grid cells. A grid is also defined as a network of uniformly spaced lines on the face of a map, intersecting at right angles and usually running north-south and east-west. Grids are often numbered and can be used to define position by rectangular coordinates.

6) Tropic of Cancer- The Tropic of Cancer (cancer is Latin for crab), or Northern tropic is one of the five major circles of latitude that mark maps of the Earth. It is the parallel of latitude that lies currently 23° 26' 22" north of the Equator. It is the farthest northern latitude at which the sun can appear directly overhead, which occurs on the June solstice. North of this line is the subtropics and Northern Temperate Zone. The Tropic of Capricorn is at the opposite latitude south of the Equator. South of the Tropic of Cancer and north of the Tropic of Capricorn are the Tropics.

7) Tropic of Capricorn- The Tropic of Capricorn or Southern tropic is one of the five major circles of latitude that mark maps of the Earth. It is the parallel of latitude at 23° 26' 22" south of the Equator, and is the farthest southern latitude that the sun can appear directly overhead, occurring on the December solstice. Its northern hemisphere equivalent is the Tropic of Cancer. Latitudes south of the Tropic of Capricorn are in the Southern Temperate Zone. North of this line are the Tropics.

8) Artic Circle- The Arctic Circle is one of the five major circles of latitude that mark maps of the Earth. This is the parallel of latitude that (in 2000) runs 66° 33' 39" (or 66.56083°) north of the Equator. Everything north of this circle is known as the Arctic, and the zone just to the south of this circle is the Northern Temperate Zone.

9) Antarctic Circle- The Antarctic Circle is one of the five major circles of latitude that mark maps of the Earth. It is at latitude 66° 33' 39" south of the equator (in 2000; like its northern counterpart, the Arctic Circle, the value is currently slowly decreasing over time, pushing the Antarctic Circle southwards with about 15 m per year).

10) Equator- The equator is an imaginary circle drawn around a planet (or other astronomical object) at a distance halfway between the poles. The equator divides the planet into a Northern Hemisphere and a Southern Hemisphere. The latitude of the equator is, by definition, 0°. The length of Earth's equator is about 40,075.0 km, or 24,901.5 miles.

The equator is one of the five main circles of latitude based on the relationship of the Earth's rotation and plane of orbit around the sun. Additionally, the equator is the only line of latitude which is also a great circle.

1. The Circular which encompass the Glob, its 0 degree begins at Equater and its 90 degree at the both Poles in this way the Intartica Continent is located at highest degree in South Pole.

2.Longitude it is half-circuld line, and its 0 degree begins at Prime Maridrian near to Greenwhich England, and time is calculated from this Point which is called GMT= Greenwhich Mean Time.

3. Prime Maridian a Longitude which has a 0 degree and is a start point to measure the time.

4. IDL, it is a line which seperate North and South America and Asia, located near to Alaska, if, for example, it is in Asia now 30-07-06 but in North America it will be 29--07-06.

5 . A network of evenly spaced horizontal and vertical lines on a map, used as a basis for finding specific points

6.Northern Line of Latitude at 23.5 degree North Equater.

7.Southern Line of Latitude at 23.5 degree South of Equater.

8 .the line of latitude at 66°30’N that marks the boundary of the Arctic. North of this latitude there are periods of continuous night in the winter and day in the summer.

9.parallel of latitude at 66° 30' S, encircling Antarctica and its surrounding seas, marking the northern limit of the area in which the sun does not set during the summer solstice and does not rise during the winter solstice

10.the imaginary great circle around the Earth that is the same distance from the North and South Poles and divides the Earth into the northern and southern hemispheres

1 Latitude : All imaginary parallel circles from the equator upto poles are the latitudes.Example Tropic of cancer etc

2 Longitude: They are the imaginary parallel lines that stretch from N.pole to S.pole.Ex Prime Meridian

3 The longitude passing thru greenwich having 0 degree is called Prime meridian

4 Tropic of cancer The latitude passing thru 23 1/2 degree in North latitude.

5Grid: The net of latitudes and longitudes.

6 T of capricorn : The latitude passind thru 23 1/2 degree in southern hemisphere.

7 Arctic c is the latitude passing thru 66 1/2 degree in N hemisphere.

8 : A ntarctic c is the latitude passing thru 66 1/2 degree in S. hemisphere.

8 Equator : Is the imaginary line running on the globe dividing it into two equal hemisphere. It is at 0 degee latitude.

Latitude refers to the degrees (or imaginary lines) around the earth going from the top to the bottom. Longitude refers to the imaginary lines going from top to bottom. The difference between the two is Latitude is horizontal (lateral) and Longitude is vertical. I think the Prime Meridian is the O degree Longitude that goes through where the time is (Greenwich, England). The International date line goes through the Pacific Ocean and seperates the days.
