Boy have I got a good money saving tip for you. If you're using a garage or extra room in the house, cover the walls with egg cartons. The sound will be amazing for recording. I think the spray insulation will work. Sound is so important. My oldest son is a very good, excellent blues guitar player.
But take my advice and treat it like a business. Start keeping track of your expenditures now. It will save you tax money in the future. Get the best equipment you can afford. You don't need the top of the line either. But make sure you have a good microphone system. Teach yourelf how to listen to music. Yes it's important. You really need to listen with your soul. Listen to the pros real close with a good stereo stystem.
