No, you lose 5 pts for asking questions. You gain 2 pts. when you answer questions. And you get 10 pts if someone votes your answer as the best. You can also get 1 pt. for visiting answers when you're logged into it. And also get 1 pt. for voting on a question.

Yahoo takes away 5 points for each question that you ask. They give you points for answering other peoples' questions.

Because you are asking for something that you will receive. If you answer someone elses question, then you get more points.
