HI! I'm in Central Missouri. My husband & I have conflicting views on this issue. First of all, my husband hates the president. He thinks he's oil, money hungry weasel...and war monger. He definitely is against the Iraq war, and for some part thinks American actions in the Middle East (pre 9-11) provoked terrorist attacks and that they should have been expected. He thinks we should pull out of every other nation & keep to ourselves.
I on the other hand do not agree with the pre 9-11 provoking. I think the terrorist groups are guerrilla groups initally est. to fight Israel, and probably through power & corruption, their leaders now use the radical ways of their followers to gain fame & power. The U.S. has backed Israel & have influenced the Middle East in many capitalistic ways, that perhaps nations are not happy with, but that doesn't excuse terrorism. I'm not so happy with some of the President's ideas, but I was happy with the Energy Initiative, I'm proud of the U.S. military and their service. I do think the U.S. should be more conservationist and less dependant on many, many....MANY foreign trade. But the helping hand part of me doesn't want the humanitarianism to stop...I can't when we have so much, and so many have so little. I hoped my views perhaps shed some light into what sort of talks my husband and I have hahaaha!! but, don't worry...we're actually happily married :)

I am in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I certainly qualify as one American who is totally upset with the way we have conducted ourselves in the world. The Iraq War is a blunder of historical proportions and the Middle East has been destabilized by the actions of the Republican Party in Congress and of course the sorrowful Presidency of George W. Bush. He should never have been President. And it was obvious before he ever got into oval office.
It is going to take us ten years at least to overcome our budget problems clear our reputation in the World, but we can do it and we can never again start a war without provocation and without proof. We lied ourselves into this mess, and now we have to walk out of it with our head held high but are spirit on probation.
I love America, but not the one that has acted so harshly and thoughtlessly in the World in the last six years.

I am upset with the American government (not the people) because of its reaction to the war in the midest.
I am also upset with the American media (especially CNN) because they are not showing the Lebanese side of the story truly. Most of what CNN shows is the Israeli side!!
Many things are going on in lebanon, but we do not see them becasue the american media hides it.

Anyone who knows the truth.. and for that you need more than to limit yourself to US media. Nationalism, mistaken for patriotism, does not go well with media in the hand of large interest groups.

I am thoroughly disgusted with all this political nonsense. It all boils down to money and power.
