Are they getting enough sun shine? Tomatoes love sun. My grandmother used to beat her tomatoes with a broom handle around the bottom of the plant and a little on top. Sounds bizarre, I know, but it works. Rough 'em up a bit and make sure to keep them watered. You can also buy some RED plastic to put underneath each plant. It helps to reflect the sun back onto the plant. The tall plants sound as though you have watered them too much and now they are "leggy" instead of bushy. Back off on the water for a bit and feed them some tomato food.

they list how many days before the fruit will be produced on the tag in the pot-

you're looking at another 30-60 days...we'll probably have a hot fall so not to worry...keep watering and fertilizing.

plant earlier next year...

Make sure you have chicken wire or something for the plant to grow on like a vine.
