i agree - most of the questions can be found in factual answers on the internet. but a lot of people are asking for opinions or a dialog, which you can't get by visiting a fact-based website.

Many people are not internet savvy. They truly don't know how to go to a search engine nor what to type in to seek answers. Just because we are "tech able," doesn't mean everybody is. But you know, this site is also for those who are tech savvy, because there's more than one answer to a question, and depending on the age of the person answering, we can get answers we may never find on the internet. Different people find different things to be entertaining and fun, and I believe a lot of us use this as an outlet, like going to a movie or to a casino. It all lies in that we are all seeking answers for different questions, and for different reasons.

I have been wondering the same thing. I understand people asking questions that require another persons opinion, or asking for advice. It seems like most people here would have better luck with google... faster results... less headache...
but who knows...
I have a good time here... answering all these questions helps me clear my mind of my own problems and lets me fall asleep.
so thanks

Good question. I have given students answers when all I have to do is look on Netscape. It is not difficult. And, yes all of our problems are W.s fault. Just kidding. But he did sign on for the job. If you can't stand the heat..... Truman is my favorite president. Junior just doesn't measure up.

This actually baffles me to no end. I'm being rewarded for doing Google searches? God, does anyone pay money for this kind of thing? I mean, there is this -> http://answers.google.com/answers/ but it's not exactly at the same scale. Especially people looking for lyrics. Are you kidding me? It's easier to type in the lyrics, stick quote marks around them, and then punch in the word "lyrics" than it is to set up a question...isn't it? I mean, I can understand some research questions...like people looking for pit bull adoption lawyers in Colorado, or obscure things like that - but there's no excuse for someone who says "OK LIEK I NEED TEH LYRICS TO DIS SONG IDK ALL THE WORD BUT IT GOES LIEK "PERMISCOUS GIRL" WTF? 10 POINTS!"
But then, it's 2:50am and I'm on this stupid site. I need to shut my mouth.

Because we're just having a good time here, aren't we? Most of the question don't have real answers anyway.

because you don't have to search nearly as much.
because you get many different answers from many different people in real-time.
because not everyone is good at using search engines.
