This is one of the oldest and hardest questions to answer.It depends on what you are going to do with the gun .For deer hunting eithermy savage model 99 in 308 or my weatherby 3006.For funshooting andselfproteection a 45 acp 1911a1.For concealed carry in warmweather a feg pa 63. coldweather eirther the colt 45 acp or the ruger 357.

Though I do not own one right now (money problems) I like the Glock 19, 9mm. It is an excellent CCW (concealed carry) gun, has only 5.5 lb trigger pull, and can withstand plenty of abuse. It is an extremely popular handgun among law enforcement. Most police departments go with either a Sig or a Glock.
