School nights- 10:30-11:30 depending on whether they need to watch the news for school. Weekends, 12:00 is the latest. They have to sleep somewhere and there should be an understanding between parents about the time. 12:00 is not so lat that the parents can't monitor them at least a little. We all know that they will stay up later than that but at least honor the host parents' requests as if you are doing what they want.

On a school night I'd want them in bed 9 hours before having to get up in the morning. On weekends, 11 is a good time. Summer would be conditional....depends on whether they have responsibilities the next day, etc. Basically the rule, though, would be to be in bed 9 hours before rising...minimum!

If it is summer, fine to stay up. But when school starts should be in bed around 11, weekends are fine to stay up late during school.

I'd let them stay up as long as they wanted. They're pretty much an adult and need to learn to budget their time appropriately. If they're too tired in the morning, then that's their problem.
