To learn how to play guitar without getting lessons what you should do is find some songs that you want to learn by your favorite bands, then look up the tabs on the internet like on the websites ultimate-guitar.com or mxtabs.net and try and learn them. When you find a song you want to learn just start off slow and youll start to get better and better at it. Oh and practice some chords and scales too which you can find in lesson books or probably on the internet.

Get a book that tells you where to put your fingers for different chords. Practice strumming the chords until they "ring" . Once you have a few chords down then practice changing chords in rythm. Pretty soon you will know how to play guitar. Memerize the name of each chord you learn, this will make it easier to play with others which will help you improve a lot quicker.

Buy a guitar or song book with a chords chart then practice playing a song.

DONT listen to the people telling you to start by learning a song right away.. you gotta start slow ( this will end up being the fastest way ) by memorizing chords and just keep practicing those trying to go faster from chord to chord then try some tabs. it is boring at first but it is the best way.

you can learn to play guitar,,by playing it everytime u have a past time....even if u dont know how to play it,,you just listen to the chords u play and try to memorize the tunes.....actually,,i dont know how to play guitar but im trying to play it everytime i have pat time...hehehe...
