Not true, because an employer, by law has to pay you minimum wage if he hires you (there is a server minimum wage that is lower than the minimum wage), and he also has to claim you as an employee on his UIA and federal paperwork he receives every 3 months. If he did not, and you got hurt on the job, he could lose his business, I don't think he is willing to risk that. Your best bet, is to work cleaning houses, or cutting grass, better yet, just go through the system, and get a temporary work visa.It can't be that hard.

NO ... any employer will have you fill out an application. And on the appl is the section asking if you can legally work in the U.S. ... You'll need to show proof of citizenship or have VISA papers. Should a restaurant hire you they risk being fined and you risk being deported. Of course you may find an owner who doesn't care (provided you have experience) and will allow you to work for cash and tips.

It's illegal to do that and very risky especially with the way the government is cracking down on immigration. There are minimum wages in the U.S. and there are many reasons why employers are required to report wages.

There could be charges filed against you (tax evasion for one) and your employer (failure to pay minimum wage) if you are caught doing this. You could be deported to your country and lose your work visa.

Either become legal and start paying taxes like the rest of us or get the hell out of our country...There's no room for freeloaders here.

that is not true because you still have to prove you are a citizen, you have to get a food handlers card and pay taxes on what you claim.
