Try using an ovulation calculator. It will give you your fertile dates so stay away from those dates. Keep in mind that you ALWAYS run a risk of pregnancy when you have unprotected sex because your cycle can be thrown off by stress, illness, diet, exercise, etc. So, it you don't want to get pregnant, ALWAYS use protection.

Well.,

its 28 days before next period, you can separate it into 3 sections.
first 1 - 10 days
second 11 - 18 days
third 19 - 28 days.

The first and third days are said to be safe days, while the second one is the one you would have ultimate chance to get preg.

The chances of getting preg over other days are considerably low. but it so happens sperms tend to survive for nearly 48 hours and create chances.

hence its better to have sex between 1-7 days in unprotected mode and follow it up in protected mode from 8 - 19 days and again unprotected mode till 28 days.

There is no amount of time you can wait after your period. You can get pregnant any time if you are not using birth control. Sperm can live inside of you for up to 5 days. I would not recommend having sex without some sort of protection if you are worried about getting pregnant. Check out plannedparenthood.org or even babycenter.com for more information on women's cycles and the possibilities of getting pregnant. Also, check with your health care provider or Planned Parenthood for some birth control. If you don't want to take something, they give condoms away for free.

Dont rely on some silly days..This type of birth control should never be used to prevent pregnancy...Use condoms or go on the contraceptive pill...
You can fall pregnant during your period even..And also dont forget about STD's..
Good Luck :)

You don't "prevent" pregnancy with the rhythm method, you just lower your chances of getting pregnant.

There's a formula, but it's not exactly applicable to every woman, and could be different for each individual woman month to month.

Use something in addition to rhythm, like condoms.

this is called the rhythm method and I am sure that there are sights on line that you can look it up and find out what they say. HOWEVER I am going to tell you that this does not work !!!! The only way to make sure that you will not get pregnant is by using birth control. Good luck with that though. Much Peace

fertile date are 6 days before and 6 days after from the 14th date before your next period.
confusing?
Let's us count
let say, your first date of period is on january 1'st, and your cycle is 27 days(vary on different people), then 27 - 14 = 13
therefore your infertile date are from 1'st january to 7'th january(13-6=7) and 19th to 27th of january(13+6=19)
BUT!
women cycle for each period could be vary, even if you you are sure of your period, so this calculation CANNOT be 100% guaranted

There are kits that can tell you that. They depend on your temperature. Much more reliable than classic rhythm. And you get preg. about 2 weeks after your period, not during.

Well, you can do it right after your period and stop on the 12th day and then resume on the 16th day just to be safe.
