What the hell is wrong with you people? System of a Down? Just cuz "down" is in the title, doesn't make the music a downer.

Here's some depressing music:
Bonnie Prince Billy: "I See a Darkness"
Nick Drake: "Black Eyed Dog"
American Music Club: "Sick of Food"
Ani DiFranco: "You Had Time"
Jeff Buckley: "Morning Theft"
Beck: "Guess I'm Doing Fine"
Ben Harper: "Another Lonely Day"
Trembling Blue Stars: "Sometimes I Still Feel the Bruise"

I'll rep R&B since nobody else did:

Christina Millian- Gonna Tell Everybody
Heather Headly- In My Mind
Avant- Separated
Jagged Edge- Promise
Janet Jackson- Again
Marques Houston- Everything

And a few non-R&B lol:

The Killers: Everything Will be Alright
Dave Matthews Band: The Space Between + I'll Back You Up

.....And What Hurts The Most by Rascal Flatts will make anyone cry even if u don't like country lol

Anberlin- [The Symphony of] Blase
Snow Patrol- Run
Rufus Wainwright- Hallelujah
Lit- Times Like These
Johnny Cash- Hurt
Breaking Benjamin- Rain

They're mostly wailing about lost love.

The Holy Bible, but Manic Street Preachers is the single most depressing but amazing album in the world.

Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt is another depressing but beautiful one.

Johnny Cash - Americana IV (I think that's the title of the album)

He covers a bunch of depressing songs and even worse than that, he knows he will soon die of cancer. When you understand this concept that he arranged the music knowing he was going to die, it makes it that much more depressing.

The album is good and worth a listen to how one of the great folk singers arranges modern compositions.

Anything by The Smiths, if you listen long enough they will all make you cry. It was the soundtrack for my depressed teen years. I look back on them with fondness.
