Before you think it, no I'm not muslim or hindu, etc. I dont believe in joining cults and thats all religions are. Face it, you go to a building and some guy tells you what to believe and what to do no questions really answered, no proof except a book usually written by the same people that started the religion....Sorry, but isnt this usually called a cult? There is no difference between cults and organized religion other than cults usually, and I said usually, dont tell their members to go kill people in the name of their so called god. Why does he/she want anyone dead after all. And just think, the so called peace loving religous folk reading this ...half want me dead right now, 40 % are just thinking I'm stupid(for not believing in fairy tells..lol) and 10 % are starting to see, I'm right. Sad, but leave it of yahoo, I can read fiction later.

No- it's called a college classroom.

Don't mean to nitpick here, but the criteria you list as forming a cult: "you go to a building and some guy tells you what to believe and what to do no questions really answered, no proof except a book usually written by the same people that started the religion..." Actually, that would be what I would call an institute of higher learning. You just described a college classroom. Teacher writes the text book quite often. Particularly in fields such as Mathematics and Science, there are no questions asked.
No one wants you dead, but maybe you should research or reword your definitions like "Cult" a little bit more thoroughly.
No offense intended, really.

They are under the impression that they have to save the world and that they have the only recipe for doing so. They would also like to think that they are a marginalized group of people because of postings and answers like these.

Fact is, religion works for some people and not for others, some people follow the teaching and find a reason to better themselves and other make a buck off of it. A bulk discount of religion as a whole is too simple, too black and white - its not all good, and its not all bad. we can only hope that the average adult realizes this and applies some critical thinking to their reasons for participating or not participating in organized religion.

You're not stupid for not believing in fairy tales. I empathize with you, but to answer your question: Human beings are the only animal on this planet that knows they're going to die some day. That is a difficult psychological issue to deal with. Religion helps. If it's any consolation, maybe we ARE eternal . . . it's just that we can't imagine in our wildest dreams how that could be. Science is working on it. There are some very interesting quantum theories (Google "non-locality"). It's complex and I don't know how old you are, but you sound fairly sophisticated, and if you're willing to put in the time, I can recommend some books below.

The difference between The Bible, and all of the other religious Books like The holy Koran, or The holy Tarah is that The Bible is not base just for one Religion it's for many Christian religions like the Johova Witness, Catholics, Mormens, Pretestian, Lutherans. Kind of evolved from what one man tought us, Jesus Christ.

I pray that some day you will understand and more importantly know God fully and completely!
Apparently you don't know or haven't read the BIBLE. It's not a fairy tale or fiction. It's the truth.
I am not sure which "belief" you are even talking about but it's sure not Christian.
Good luck in finding your way....
God Bless and Keep you.

Cults came after religion, and don't be fooled by those who claim to be of God but act in a contrary manner to God's teachings. - This negative hypocritical wave of "believers" is actually the largest cult of all.

Well - all Religious do SILLY comments,
becouse of fairy tales that they believe on , and very wish to make someone else to start to believe on the also.
( some like : I spoke shiiiitz, so if i make other to spoke them to - so i start to sound less idiotic )

I'm very happy that more and more people start to undestanding the whole idea, and start to see the whole thing, but not the one trought historicaly based events.
So - u must not be sad - be happy - u seems to join THE NEW TIME , before it's INVENTED ... as i did :P

Too many do indeed accept their religious beliefs without a critical examination of them.
However, this goes for many atheists as well.
Any extensive philosophical system that is adopted without truly examining it will inevitably injure you worse than it will heal you.
God is more of an experience than a metaphyical constant; christianity is more a way of living one's life than a set of values; anyone who percieves it as some game of rules and regulations that will, if you win, let you into some unearthly paradise after death is not living as a christian, but a self-deluding fraud.

I'm not religious, but 90-95% of the world population is, including most of the people with brains. Are you sure you are right? The previously mentioned people have faith. You don't. That's the difference. They are natural believers, and who knows if they are right or wrong? We'll only know that after death.
