Fair skin.
Tanned skin may look nice today, but in ten years it will look like leather. Fair skin exudes purity, innocence and freshness, although, we're talking skin-deep here so I'm sure someone with a good tan can be pure, innocent and fresh on the inside :)

I am fair skinned, but like to be tan - but since it takes wayyy too much effort for me (go in the sun, get burned, tan a little, burn a little more, tan a little more, etc) I just stay fair skinned all year for the most part. I have learned to be happy being fair and also that sun block is my friend :O)

Fair skin is beautiful, and the same with tanned. But it's more rare for me to meet someone with truly fair skin, so I prefer fair. One of my cast members has the fairest skin I've ever seen, it drives me crazy. But then again... so does a nice tan. Like Jessica Alba. Damn.

I personally like being pale. But my boyfriend is Pakistani and is a nice dark tan. I love HIM being tan. it depends on the person. Woman look a natural beautiful being pale, it can be quite pretty.
But tan can be nice aswell, a nice subtle tan.

I prefer tanned skin but considering what I saw this afternoon about UV light causing sking cancer and people dying from it has made me think twice.

tan makes you look leathery in time, so between tan and fair works for me
