2.4 is really low for a first year college student?

2006-07-27 19:01:43 · 12 answers · asked by Fatima 4 in Arts & Humanities History

i'm preatty good in drawing classes and design but my nightmare is math, having tutoring is horrible because i have to wait for two hours ( with appointment) and most of the time i have to run for my next class, so i think i will need to pay for tutoring.
teachers are good , but i'm really bad with numbers.

Study & go to class.

2.4 is not a great GPA, but it is not horrible. Many 1st year college students have done much worse. At least you are in a position to improve on things.

Yes, a 2.4 GPA is very low for a first year college student, depending on what college you go to. If you go to a CC then maybe not. I don't really know, i'm not familiar with CC. But if you want to raise your GPA then just work harder in your classes. Work harder to understand exactly what your professors are teaching you. If the class is too hard, take an easier one. Don't skip classes, don't skip lectures and don't skip tests. Don't over sleep but get enough and eat lots of nutrient rich food. A lack of nutrients can make you drowsy and sleepy or sick.

Check with your college for offtime classes that teach you the study techniques you need for college. They are not the same a you did in HS. I'm talking about study techniques, I'm not saying your not studying enough. You probably study to much and too long due to the techniques you use.

I think so.

The student is not applying herself. College is a time for growth in many ways, but especially academically.

Take advantage of tutoring programs and spend more time studying.

I don't know you personally, but all I'm gonna say is stop partying and STUDY MORE.

tips:
-join a study group. you can still be social and get different views on things
-get a tutor
-go talk to a dean for help
-get transferred to a less difficult college

just here to help ;-)

The only way to increase your GPA is to get better grades. There's no shortcut.

You should take a P.E. class to raise your gpa. You don't have to do anything except come to class.
