There are always rumors about the sexual orientation of a cartoon character. I personally heard the most directed at Spongebob. I mean his behavior and weird smiling face just makes people wonder.

Sponges are asexual, and reproduce by a process called budding. I believe Spongebob clearly demonstrated this process in one of the episodes to dispell this rumor. On the other hand Batman and Robin are clearly in the Greek way if you know what I mean.

Lance is, why not SpongeBob too. All of my childhood is coming out of the closet. Next thing they're gonna tell me is a rainbow is actually a symbol for the gay & lesbian community.

If you can even think of a SPONGE who hangs out with a STARFISH who both live next to a SQUID as gay then i guess so. OR just shut up spongebob is not gay, hes a friggin FICTIONAL character. PERIOD, political correctness can go to hell.

Spongebob is not gay. He is a flippin' cartoon character! However, studies have shown that he is the favorite cartoon among gay men.

Well let's see, Patrick is his "special friend", they dress-up, sing songs, and dance. And he lives in a pineapple people come on, that it self is just little fruity (sorry I couldn't help myself ). But I would probably say SquidWorth over SpongeBob. ;)

I always wondered that. Maybe they made him gayish(I have never seen him interested in a girl before) without thinking about it, but it is very possible. He seems more of the happy, fashionable gay to me though, but whatever.
