I am due to start this fall for my teaching degree. Here is what you need to do. First, you need to have graduated high school. Then you can either start at a two year college for your basic classes (this is cheaper than a university), and then you can transfer your credits to a university. When you are checking out the colleges, mention what you want to do, they can direct you to the best universities. Make sure that you do very well in your classes. Many universities require you to have a certain GPA just to enroll in the teaching program. The one I am going to states that to enroll in the teaching program, we must have at least a 3.0 to start. Also, when you start a teaching program, they will want you to choose a major and/or minor. This will depend upon the state in which you live. In MI, I had to choose elementary education as my planned major, then had to choose another major, I chose Language Arts. I have been told that people who choose Math or Science tend to get jobs faster. Hope that helps!

Yes, there are majors for learning how to teach in schools, called Education majors (or something similiar, you should ask a college advisor in case it's not called that). And yes, you need a college degree if you want to be taken seriously.

So you have chosen a destination now. Keep on enquiring. Talk to your teachers. They will be knowing more. That is a noble profession. My best wishes.
