Do you both mutually agree to the divorce? If yes, then the both of you go to an attorney or go the local Legal Research and Defense place and they have free attorneys that will place you on a waiting list and give you a divorce free of charge. a uncontested divorce is soooo much cheaper than one that is contested. (when both partners cant agree to anything then it's contested)
Just make sure that it's an uncontested divorce, if it's contested, then yeah you are gonna have to have attornies.

It is best you get a lawyer. But one lawyer should suffice. And the costs should be kept down. He will advise you on what could be the possible grounds on which you can file for divorce.
However it is best you talk with your spouse first very seriously if divorce is really what you want. Many couples do not realise the gravity of a divorce till it is too late. Even in non-conflict divorces, complications can arise. It is not always a painless exit.
If you are not completely sure if divorce is your answer, it may be wise to get marriage counselling before going to the lawyer's office. Even a period of separation can bring clarity to what really is to be done.
But if you are sure that you cannot save your marriage, negotiate with a lawyer for the lowest fees possible. Make sure you already agree on issues like child support, maintenance, division of assets, custody issue of children and sale of the matrimonial home etc. before entering the law firm

If you are friends and you already know what you are going to do with any property you aquired together and children if any, you can file your own divorce. You can get a book with all the forms you need at any bookstore or library. The book tells you what forms you need and it will cost you a small filing fee to file it at the courthouse. You fill out, file, serve, he signs and you receive. You do not need a lawyer as long as you both are in agreement about everything. You can fill out the papers together.

hi, i imagine you want to safeguard your self and pass ahead with the divorce. definite, it ought to correctly be the money (cynically talking) or i assume a bunch of alternative motives. maximum states have a default divorce attainable. I purely moved from NJ and there once you document for divorce the different man or woman has 35 days to reply. in the experience that they do no longer reply you could document for default meaning the divorce is going on without them. it may take yet another 35 days to get on the courtroom docket or so reckoning on the state of jurisdiction (that can be the position you and your spouse resided in the course of the marriage). you do not choose a lawyer to attempt this. They call it filing professional se frequently and also you may document for about 250.00. you could also qualify for legal help that can get you free legal suggestion over the phone. they gained't represent you in courtroom yet ought to provide you each and every thing you want to understand. i'm very sorry you're dealing with this- yet please, please, please do what you want to do to safeguard your self. no remember what the circumstances are, your spouse gave up her correct to something and under no circumstances responding contained in the spectacular 7 yrs.

If everything is amicable, you can actually file the divorce yourselves. Go to the local library and ask for copies of divorce papers. Fill those out and go file at the court house.

some states have no-contest divorces which basically dissolve the marriage, but it depends on the state. In order to dissolve a marriage you still need to appear in front of a judge.

You could get a non contested divorce which means that you agree on everything, and you can draw up the papers yourself.

If it's uncontested, then you can do it yourself in most states. But if you guys are disagreeing over the slightest thing, it's best to turn it over to a lawyer to handle.
